Katie Smallegan
Katie has over 9 years of Professional Reining horse training. She has worked with nationally known trainer, the late Ed Fear & Dottie Smith. Recently with local trainer Ed Shaarda, in Hudsonville.
Working with Ed Shaarda in 2005 they brought 2 green reiners to the MRHA showpens. One stood as the 2005 Green Reiner 1 Champion and the other stood 5th.
In 2000 and 2001 Katie was the MRHA Limited Open Champion on Corchas Gorgeous Gal. Together they won numerous other awards and cash prizes. In 2005 Katie qualified Redman Pays for the Eastern Affiliate Finals at the Tradition show in Ohio.
Katie is currently working out of a beautiful indoor facility, owned by lifetime MRHA/NRHA members Tom and Diane DeJonge. The barn is located 15 minutes south of the new M-6 and I-196 highways.
Katie enjoys working with non- pro and youth riders. She will also start and finish your futurity/derby prospects and your youth or non- pro horses. Katie is looking for customers that want to have fun and show their horses at the same time!
Lessons are available for those who have their own horses.
